Giuliano DAL MOLIN, Igino LEGNAGHI, Rolando Tessadri
ENGLISH TEXT
In the art world, attributing the title “Untitled” to a work is a very common practice, especially in certain artistic fields. This choice is not a simple lack of imagination, or a sort of intellectual laziness, but often a precise logical and expressive choice, very common in abstract art, conceptual art, and contemporary art in general.
The absence of a title opens up a space of interpretative freedom in which the viewer engages with the work without verbal guidance or stimulation. Without a title that suggests a story, a theme, a statement, or a memory, the observer activates personal mental and emotional processes, focusing solely on the mark, the color, the shape, and the characteristics of the materials and supports used.
For the works on display by Dal Molin, Legnaghi, and Tessadri, longtime friends who are exhibiting together for the first time, “Untitled” aims to stimulate us to observe their aniconic works, without superstructures, without constraints, without generic interpretations that guide us in the interpretation of their decades-long research on space, matter, form, sign, and color, but rather free to interpret, free to be moved.
The pictorial work of Giuliano Dal Molin (Schio, 1960) breaks with the traditional structure of the painting understood as an “object to be hung” to open directly to the surrounding environment. The ultimate goal of his work is not pure geometric decoration, but the achievement of a dimension of inner silence and secular spirituality. The artwork aims to go beyond the image to generate a silent yet tangible meeting space with the observer.
The expressive research of Igino Legnaghi (Verona, 1936), which developed from the 1960s onwards, also thanks to significant study visits to the United States, rejects any decorativism or casual suggestion to focus on the absoluteness of forms and the physicality of the material. Geometric rigor, simple and rational planning and the use of metals (iron, stainless steel, copper and anticorodal) as the medium of choice are the main coordinates of his decades-long research.
Rolando Tessadri (Mezzolombardo, 1968) is an artist known for his rigorous, minimalist and essential aniconic painting based on the use of orthogonal grids that generate abstract surface textures in which the pigment/color becomes measure and meditative space. His canvases create a silent and suspended visual balance, where the color vibrates with a deep light that dialogues with time and memory.
