“THE SECOND SKIN” – Group Show

L’arte è una seconda pelle che si adatta a cose e situazioni. Le copre ma ne svela anche l’essenza, conformandosi alla realtà, aderendo ad essa e, in questo modo, sottolineandone strutture e dinamiche. La mostra The Second Skin, ospitata dalla Paolo Maria Deanesi Gallery, affianca alle opere di Arnold Mario Dall’O quelle di Sissa Micheli, Josef Rainer, Aron Demetz, Anuschka Prossliner e Luca Coser.

Dall’O chiama al suo fianco altri artisti per parlare del proprio lavoro in un’altra forma di raddoppiamento dove ciascuno, guardando alle produzioni degli altri autori con cui condivide visioni e sensibilità, ritrova anche un po’ di se stesso. La natura di questa seconda pelle è quindi paradossale. Essa ricopre ma evidenzia allo stesso tempo, proprio come negli impacchettamenti urbani di Christo e Jeanne Claude che, nel momento stesso in cui tolgono dalla vista un famoso monumento, lo rendono anche estremamente presente nella mente dei cittadini.

Questa sorta di duplicazione è di natura pittorica nelle ricerche di Arnold Mario Dall’O e Luca Coser, intenti a lavorare con immagini esistenti, riprodotte, cancellate o modificate, per alludere al proprio privato o ad aspetti legati alla politica e alla memoria. È di natura fotografica per Sissa Micheli in una serie di scatti dal gusto barocco che fissano ampi tessuti di velluto mentre stanno cadendo, bloccati in forme transitorie davanti a corpi nudi, un attimo prima di cadere a terra.
Una doppia pelle davvero epidermica per le sculture di Aron Demetz e le fotografie di Anuschka Prossliner, interessati ai dettagli esteriori delle cose in grado però di dire qualcosa anche della loro interiorità. Nelle sculture di Josef Rainer sono invece altri esseri viventi – le api – a integrare creativamente il lavoro artistico, rendendo le opere conclusive un’intrecciata e intelligente collaborazione tra mondo umano e mondo naturale dove sul bronzo e il gesso si innestano direttamente i favi degli operosi insetti.

Ogni gesto artistico è fondamentalmente una seconda pelle: una sovrastruttura del reale che cerca però di svelarne aspetti invisibili al primo sguardo molto più profondi e sfuggenti.

La mostra nasce da un’idea di Arnold Mario Dall’O e Paolo Maria Deanesi.

Art is a second skin that adapts to things and situations. It covers them but also reveals their essence, conforming to reality, adhering to it and, in this way, emphasizing its structures and dynamics. The exhibition The Second Skin, hosted by Paolo Maria Deanesi Gallery, places the works of Arnold Mario Dall’O alongside those of Sissa Micheli, Josef Rainer, Aron Demetz, Anuschka Prossliner and Luca Coser.

Dall’O calls other artists to his side to talk about his own work in another form of doubling where each, looking at the productions of the other authors with whom he shares visions and sensibilities, also finds a bit of himself. The nature of this second skin is thus paradoxical. It covers but also highlights at the same time, just as in Christo and Jeanne Claude’s urban wrappings, which, at the very moment they remove a famous monument from view, also make it extremely present in the minds of citizens.

This sort of duplication is pictorial in nature in the researches of Arnold Mario Dall’O and Luca Coser, intent on working with existing images, reproduced, erased or modified, to allude to their own private or to aspects related to politics and memory. It is photographic in nature for Sissa Micheli in a series of shots with a baroque flavor that stare at wide velvet fabrics as they are falling, locked in transient forms in front of naked bodies, a moment before they fall to the ground.

A truly epidermal double skin for Aron Demetz’s sculptures and Anuschka Prossliner’s photographs, interested in the outward details of things that are able, however, to say something of their inwardness as well. In Josef Rainer’s sculptures, on the other hand, it is other living beings-bees-that creatively integrate the artistic work, making the concluding works an intertwined and intelligent collaboration between the human and natural worlds where the honeycombs of the industrious insects are directly grafted onto the bronze and plaster.

Each artistic gesture is fundamentally a second skin: a superstructure of the real that seeks, however, to reveal invisible aspects of it at first glance that are much deeper and more elusive.

The exhibition is the brainchild of Arnold Mario Dall’O and Paolo Maria Deanesi.
