ANTONIO DE PASCALE
Born in 1953 in Crispano (NA), Italy. Lives and works in Padua, Italy.
From a “Grand Tour” through the mediascape Antonio De Pascale brings back stereotypes and iconographies of mass products and mass communication. He deconstructs their basic linguistic elements and reassembles them in an unprecedented way, introducing disturbing factors both at a formal and a conceptual level. Images, products, logos and packaging are cloned and genetically modified to be reproduced in painting with acrylics on canvas of unusual dimensions. The prototype imprinted in the collective imagination becomes overloaded with meaning: breaking point between the pervasive impact of the media and the inevitability of reality.
